[Real Korean Language] Let's practice Korean at the Restaurant & Cafe!

I've been thinking of the New &Cool contents for this post and 

I decided to make a practical Korean Language teaching post! 

I am pretty sure that you who are reading this must be going to Korea for a trip or study one day, isn't it?!

So, today, we are going to practice how to call a waiter at the restaurant & a cafe!

1. 주문할게요 ( I am gonna order now) 

When you go to a local restaurant and are ready for the order,

sometimes, you might find that there's no service bell on the table.

In this situation, you can call waiters saying,

" 주문할게요~" 

(Korean Pronunciation: JooMoon HalGyeYo)

while you raise one of your hands.

 

2. 이모~, 삼촌~, 언니~, 저기/여기요~( Auntie/Uncle/Sister/Excuse me (Hey) )

It is the same expression to call waiters  as above,

but more friendly way!

old women

2-1) 이모(Emo)~ 

When the waiter is an old woman like a mother or aunt,

then call her ,

" 이모 (Emo)~"

2-2)삼촌(Samchon)~

When the waiter is an old man like your dad or uncle, 

then call him 

"삼촌 (Samchon)~" 

 

 

2-3) 언니 (Eonni)~

When the waiter is woman, and seems not that old but look younger than auntie or mother,

then call her 

"언니~ ( Sister/ Eonni)"

 

2-4) 저기요/ 여기요 ( jeogiyo~/Yeogiyo~)

If you find nothing applicable above, then call them 

"저기요/여기요~ ( Excuse me or hey/jeogiyo~/Yeogiyo~)

(+ you can use 저기요 / 여기요 instead all above)

By the way,

Don't you feel something weird?

You might wonder,

"Why there's no 오빠 ( brother/ Oppa) or 누나( sister / Nuna) or 형 ( brother / Hyung) above!?"

 

My reply to it is,

'You can call them with those names if you want,

but it would get awkward somehow, 

so I don't recommend it to you.'

(I normally do not use (Oppa) word when I call waiters as well.)

you can call waiters in Korean at the restaurant & at a cafe!
